The midfielder is set to make her USWNT debut in the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The USWNT will play its opening match against Vietnam on 22 July 2023.
DeMelo is the only player on the World Cup roster for the U.S. women’s national team who has yet to make her senior international debut. She previously received her first call-ups to the national team in September and October 2022 but did not play any games. However, she was featured in the USWNT friendly against Wales on 10 July 2023.
The Racing Louisville selected her with the fourth pick in the 2022 National Women’s Soccer League Draft. Eventually, she made her debut for the team in the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup match against the Houston Dash on 25 March 2022.
Likewise, she made her first start for Racing Louisville against the Kansas City Current on 2 April 2022. Her first professional goal was a game-winning direct free kick against San Diego Wave FC on 18 May 2022. The goal was even featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10.
Savannah played collegiate soccer at the University of Southern California from 2017 to 2021. During the four seasons, she made 75 appearances for the Trojans and scored 17 goals and 28 assists.

Savannah was a gymnast until she was 8 and did not take soccer seriously until she was 9. Her father played a major role to pursue a career in soccer. He even coached and trained his daughter in the initial years.
