Dustin Poirier mocked Conor McGregor by flaunting 73k 'Sleepy Mac' chain from Jake Paul after beat

Jake Paul sent his customised £73,000 ‘Sleepy McGregor’ chain to Dustin Poirier to congratulate him after his victory at UFC 264.

‘The Diamond’ left the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in July with his hand raised after McGregor suffered a fracture tibia and fibula at the end of the first round.

Although it was not the conclusion to the trilogy fight that fans were hoping for, Poirier was dominant throughout the first five minutes and even earned 10-8 rounds from two of the judges.

It is the second time this year Poirier has earned a big win over the most lucrative star in the sport of MMA, knocking ‘The Notorious’ out cold at UFC 257 in January.

His prone position on Fight Island in the Octagon was immortalised forever by YouTuber Paul in the shape of a customised pendant worth a reported $100,000 (£73k), which he wore around his neck in Las Vegas to watch the fight.

During the press conference with Tyron Woodley before their fight in August, Paul confirmed he would be sending the necklace to Louisiana so that Poirier could auction it off for his charity, The Good Fight Foundation.

“Got the sleepy mac chain today from Jake Paul,” Poirier captioned a photo of himself holding the necklace on Twitter. “I will be auctioning it off soon for The Good Fight Foundation to do something big in Lafayette!!”

McGregor is unlikely to appear in the Octagon until 2022 at the very earliest following the devastating news about his leg fractures, which he insists were caused during fight camp.

Meanwhile Poirier has the opportunity to prove to the world he is the very best lightweight on the planet when he faces Charles Oliveira for the UFC world title this weekend.
