Ben Hunter And Freddie Long Team-Up On Powerful Track 'Hope'
Ben Hunter and Freddie Long have teamed up to release powerful track Hope in association with CALM. The track looks into male mental health, with the pair working with CALM to find out more and learn ways in which they can help which has led to this emotive musical masterpiece.
The track was inspired by a real-life struggle faced by a close friend, which is laid bare in Ben’s rap verses which are mirrored by Freddie’s pleading vocals reaching out and asking those around to “show me hope“. Focussing heavily on the lyrical matter it’s impossible to not be moved by the track, it’s heartbreakingly real about a situation and feelings many can experience during their lifetime.
Speaking of the track Ben said “This is a hugely personal song for me and one that aims to shine a light on the mental health struggles many young men, in particular, are facing. Life can throw some pretty tough punches and it’s easy for things to spiral but taking the first step and talking to someone can be the turning point for getting back on track. There is still too much social stigma around mental health problems, so I hope this song helps more people to open up.”. The solo artist from Barnstaple brings together hip-hop, rap and pop to create the unique sound highlighted on debut track Anarchy released last year. With an EP set for release later in the year, Ben Hunter is a rapper you soon won’t be able to forget.
These views are echoed by Freddie who explains the importance of Hope “I was shocked to find out the statistics that 12 men a day within the UK die of suicide. It’s a scary fact but one we can’t ignore. Hope is a track that raises awareness of the issues around men’s mental health and show people they’re not alone. I’ve realised recently how important it is for me to talk to people around me about my emotions and not be ashamed if I’m feeling down.”.
