Emma Watson is a Massive Julia Roberts Fan
In 2009, Emma Watson was interviewed by the Mirror. In the interview, Watson had to complete some unfinished sentences for the publication. She was asked the question “When I was little, I wanted to be…” to which she responded with “A fairy after being a princess. Then I realised it was impossible so I decided to be an actress.” In response to the question “My hero is…”, Watson said “As a child I always wanted to be Julia Roberts. She has a magnetic personality and smile.”
Since she revealed that her hero is Julia Roberts, Watson has reiterated that she is a fan. Even in interviews, she has stated that Pretty Woman was probably the first impactful film she ever watched. It was impactful enough to make her want to get into acting.
Of course in 2017, when Watson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, she said that her family had approximately four VHS tapes and that she constantly watched them on repeat. Those tapes were Four Weddings and a Funeral, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Private Benjamin, and Pretty Woman. Hence the Julia Roberts fandom.

Watson Emulates Her Hero
In 2013, Emma Watson appeared on the cover of British GQ in an outfit that was not a style she had been known to sport. The outfit appeared to be a more modern version of one of the dresses that Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman. The dress that she wore was what many called more sexualized than how the world had seen the actress up to that point. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter even used a headline in their report of the shoot that said “Absurd: British GQ Tarts Up Emma Watson in Julia Roberts’ ‘Pretty Woman’ Hooker Dress.”
Watson is a known feminist and has since been criticized for her choices to be revealing in shoots. In 2017, Watson posed in a cover shoot for Vanity Fair.
